Turn back time to an era when art and the natural sciences were inseparable!

Frog in pants_v4_rs_wmJoin local artist Bethann G. Merkle for a rare event held in the Morrin Centre’s Victorian-era science lab.

Following an illustrated talk with special emphasis on local natural history and scientists, you will enjoy a series of facilitated sketching and observation activities.

Bethann will teach you how to record your observations of nature specimens using a combination of sketches and notes.
Cottonwood_clean_sigWhether you are a novice or a well-seasoned artist, a nature buff or a curious newcomer, the techniques introduced during this soirée offer a strong foundation for those interested in developing urban and/or nature sketching habits.

This multidisciplinary soirée is part of the Morrin Centre’s Connecting Through Culture series, which includes a variety of bilingual events, such as historical talks and musical concerts. Through these events, participants have the opportunity to meet members of the Francophone and Anglophone communities and come together through their shared passions.

Don’t miss this interactive talk/workshop in English, followed by a bilingual Q&A, to be held at the Morrin Centre on Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Admission

$15.00; includes a glass of wine or beer (to get your internal natural historian’s curiosity flowing). Participants will also have the option to purchase sketchbooks at the beginning of the session.
